Curbside Pickup

Curbside Pickup Service
Now that Governor Scott has approved curbside pickup for Vermont libraries, Waterville Town Library is trying a pilot program to provide patrons access to physical materials through a curbside pickup service.

Hours for curbside pickup:

Tuesdays   2:30pm or 3:30pm

Thursdays  2:30pm or 3:30pm

Saturdays  2:30pm or 3:30pm

Follow two easy steps to pick up materials at Waterville Town Library’s front steps.

Step one: Fill out Curbside Pickup form on our website

·      Use our online catalog to search for items owned by the library http://www.watervillelib.org  Some items may not be available.

·      There is a limit of ten items per library card. If you need any assistance, email librarian@watervillelib.org or message us on FB @WatervilleTownLibrary

·      Fill out the form here: https://tinyurl.com/ybnm7bvn

·      We will notify you by phone when your books are ready.  Thank you for your patience. This is a pilot program provided by your volunteer librarians.

·      Your items will be in a bag with your last name and first initial, and the date we called you.

Step two: Pick up your items.

  • Bagged library books will be on the front steps of the building for contactless pickup.
  • To support physical distancing, please only one person at a time.
  • Outdoor signage at the library will guide you to the pickup location.
  • Your bag is labeled with your last name and first initial.
  • Please pick up your bag promptly so the next person can pick up theirs contact free.
  • Grab your bag and enjoy!
  • Please return your items to the book drop between the front doors.

Remember, Waterville Town Library’s building remains closed to the public. Please do not knock on the door or ask to enter the building.

Frequently asked questions

How will I know my books are ready for pickup?
You will receive a phone call from a library volunteer at the phone number listed on your curbside pickup request.  Due to our library system, books that appear in our catalog may not be available.  We will make every effort to fill your request but some items may already be checked out to someone else.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

How do I return materials?
Return your items in the book drop between the doors of the library.

Do I need a library card?
Yes, patrons must have a Waterville Town Library card to use curbside pickup. If you do not have a library card, email librarian@watervillelib.org  to request a library card, please include your mailing address and phone number.  Your library card will be included in the bag with your books.

What materials are available for pickup?
All physical materials currently on the shelf are available for pickup, including books, DVDs, audio CDs, puppets and games.

Can you look for specific items or provide reading suggestions?
Yes!  There is a space on the form for you to fill in asking for a volunteer librarian picked selection.  (e.g. 2 picture books, 2 easy readers, and one new fiction book)

May I place a curbside pickup request via telephone?
Sorry volunteers will only be in the library to gather your curbside requests.  They will use an outgoing phone line to call you; but no one is available to answer the phone regularly.

What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?
The contactless curbside pickup model we are using provides maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our volunteer librarians.

All physical materials are quarantined for 72 hours, per CDC guidelines, before being checked back out.

Volunteer librarians wash their hands before and after handling materials.

Patrons and volunteer librarians should respect the need for physical distancing and not approach one another.  This may feel uncomfortable, but is necessary to provide a safe, contactless pickup service. If you notice someone at the pickup area, please remain in your vehicle until the previous patron has departed.

Bags are a temporary measure to protect patron privacy, protect physical materials, and limit unnecessary contact. Bags help separate materials to avoid the need for patrons to sort through items on the pickup cart.
