Vermont Institute of Natural Science Program “Owls & Their Calls”:
“Did you know that not all owls hoot? This program includes two live owls and an audible demonstration of the sounds of our local owls. This first-hand encounter enables participants to understand the defining characteristics and adaptations for life as a nocturnal predator on the wing. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience.”
For all ages!
This program has been made possible by grants from the Vermont Department of Libraries (the Summer Programming Grant) and from VINS.
Champlain Fair Read & Win Program
There’s still time for students Grades K-8 to turn in their voucher slips to earn free admission to this year’s fair, as well as a free book, one free ice cream, and a free ride ticket, all available for one day of the Fair. If you’ve read 3 books between June 19 and August 15, bring your slip, signed by a guardian, to the library, or fill one out at the library. The librarian will sign the voucher slip and give you your ribbon! If you go to the fair, be sure to wear your ribbon to the fair and get the prizes you’ve earned!
“All Together Now” Summer Reading Program
Our summer reading program ends on Saturday, August 26, with a variety of events. At 10am, we’ll have an owl-themed StoryTime. At 11am, one of VINS’ Environmental Educators will lead the program “Owls & Their Calls”, with live owls! And at 12:30pm, we’re raffling prizes for this summer’s reading program participants, both children and adults. Whether you’ve been keeping track of your summer reading on Beanstack online, or by hand with pen and paper, make sure you’ve signed up as one of our library’s participants, to be eligible for raffle prizes!
